As summer draws to a close and children start heading back to school, family life can get pretty hectic.

The Scottsbluff Police Department reminds the public that with school starting this week, it’s important to remember – and share with your children – some key tips.

Motorists should keep an eye out for any kids on the sidewalk, buses stopped by the side of the road, or any other indications that kids are afoot.

Captain Tony Straub says parents should talk with their children about being aware of their surroundings, and motorists are reminded of the school zone speeds of 15 miles per hour when children are present.

And the new speed limit on 27th Street from Broadway to 5th Avenue is 20 m.p.h. during all hours and Straub warns motorists that the police department will be strictly enforcing this limit.
