South Carolina Man Accused Of Having Large Amount Of Marijuana In York County

YORK COUNTY- A man from South Carolina has been formally charged with two felonies when he was allegedly caught with 201.9 pounds of marijuana. Shawn L. Fox, 41, of Beaufort, South Carolina, waived his preliminary hearing in York County Court. According to court documents, on November, 14th, 2019 at approximately 4:31 P.M., the Nebraska State Patrol was conducting a ruse checkpoint on Interstate 80 mile marker 348, the Bradshaw exit in York County.

A trooper with the NSP observed a minivan traveling eastbound on County Road 9. The trooper caught up to the vehicle. Fox said that he was lost, and the trooper noticed suspicious behavior, including Fox, sweating and shaking.  Also according to court documents, The troopers then asked if they could do a search of the vehicle, Fox said no, so the NSP ran a K9 around the vehicle. The dog alerted and indicated the presence of drugs at the rear of the vehicle. Fox then admitted there was marijuana in the vehicle. Troopers then did a probable cause search and found six large duffel bags with marijuana in sealed bags. The total amount was 201.9 pounds of marijuana.

Fox has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver which is a Class 2 A felony and carries a maximum sentencing of 20 years in prison, and having no drug tax stamp, a Class 4 felony, which carries a possible maximum sentencing of two years in prison and 9-12 months of post-release supervision and/or a $10,000 fine. His arraignment is set for February 24th, 2020.
