Winter Storm, Accidents Force Road Closures in Southern Nebraska Panhandle

The Nebraska Department of Transportation has closed roads in the southern Panhandle as the latest winter storm moves into the area.

District 5 Operations Manager Chris Ford says NDOT has closed the following roads due to accidents, poor visibility, and dangerous conditions:

  • I-80 from Wyoming to Big Springs
  • Hwy 30 from Wyoming to Big Springs
  • Hwy 19 from Sidney to Colorado
  • US 385 from Sidney to Bridgeport

Ford says in addition, Hwy 71 from Kimball to the Colorado line has been closed at the request of CDOT.

Ford says the length of the closures has yet to be determined.
