January 20th, 2020 | Amanda Mendoza

YORK- York Parks and Recreation is asking that members of the community to write letters in support of the City Auditorium. The city is working with SENDD (Southeast Nebraska Development District) on funding sources. The amount needed is $2.5 million to have a new roof put on, new windows installed, and a new HVAC system put in on the structure that has been in York since 1940. The application is for the SENDD grant of $526,000 and the city is required to match that amount. One of the requirements of the application is to have letters of support and quotes from the members of the community.

Examples for the support letters can be about the childrens museum, Midstate Meltdown Basketball Tournaments, CRC basketball and volleyball, graduation, 4-H use, and community events in general just to name a few. The letters can be sent via email to the Director of Parks and Recreation, Cheree Folts, at cfolts@cityofyork.net  or sent to the Community Center at 211 E 7th St., York, NE 68467 c/o Cheree Folts. The letters must be received by January 24th.
