SUTTON — The No.1 seed in Class C2, the Sulton Mustangs, move on in the NSAA state high school playoffs after a 46-7 win over the Yutan Chieftains. Sutton’s Jackson Perrien found the end zone four times in the Mustangs win, and quarterback Cade Wiseman added a score as well.
Sutton got things going on its first drive ended in a score from 14 yards by Perrien, and then after a Yutan punt, Perrien found the end zone again another making the score 16-0 after one quarter.
Yutan was able to find the end zone in the second quarter with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Isaiah Daniell to the quarterback Brady Timm. Yutan then picked off Sutton late in the second half, stalling the Sutton offense, but the first half ended with the Mustangs on top 24-7
The Mustangs struck first in the second half with an 8-yard touchdown run by Wiseman to extend the lead, and they would continue to run the ball and close the game from there on out.
With the win, Sutton advances to the second round and will play Battle Creek next Friday in Sutton.
