Aquinas Catholic Shuts Out Centennial

UTICA – The Aquinas Catholic Monarchs (2-0) are the real deal in Class C2. After an impressive win in week one over Bishop Neumann, the Monarchs played another top-10 team in the state on Friday, traveling to Centennial (1-1). The Monarchs, coached by the legendary Ron Mimick, stopped the Broncos from getting into the endzone at all, winning 27-0.

The star of the game was the fullback for the Monarchs Michael Andel. He punched it into the endzone from five yards out early in the first quarter, then scored two touchdowns in the second half to give his team a three-score lead. Running back Kyle Napier added a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Andel finished with 15 carries for 107 yards. Also for the Monarchs, Napier added 109 yards on the ground on 11 carries.

For the Broncos, running back Mike Nisley led them on the ground with 109 yards. The quarterback Cooper Gierhan added 95 yards passing and 51 yards rushing.
