STROMSBURG- Saturday evening Cross County hosted Heartland for a girls and boys doubleheader and the teams split contests. In the girls game, it was Cross County who won with the final score reading 40-31. It was a tight ball game throughout as neither team was really able to get an edge. The game was a chess-match between both head coaches, Mitch Boshart of Cross County and Greg Veerhusen of Heartland, as both changed up defenses throughout the game and made adjustments on the offensive side. Cortlyn Schaefer scored 15 to help the Cougars move to 8-4. Heartland was led by Odessa Ohrt as she poured in 14 points, and the Huskies are now 5-5.
In the boys game, it was a victory for the Huskies as they beat the Cougars 59-44. At halftime, Cross County led Heartland 26-25 but a 34-18 second half from Heartland led the Huskies to the victory. Trajan Arbuck was on fire for the Huskies (6-4) as he recorded 34 points. Cross County (6-5) was led by Cory Hollinger and his 13 points.
