(Audio) Duke defense slows Hastings in postseason win
RRN/York vs Hastings.

AURORA – A huge second quarter propelled the York boys basketball team past the Hastings Tigers, 58-33 in the first round of the B-6 Subdistrict.

Early on in the first quarter, both teams traded punches as Hastings grabbed their only lead. However, the Dukes outscored the Tigers, 18-4 in the second period on their way to their 20th win of the season. York’s defense limited a Hastings team that thrives on the three ball, to only two three pointers all night long and limited their offense to only 14 points in the first half. Individually, Duke senior Brady Danielson was nearly unstoppable in the first half as he scored 15 points as the Dukes took over the second quarter.

The Tigers played a better second half as Connor Creech began to find his rhythm finishing with 13 points, scoring nine in the last two quarters. Quentin Synek contributed five points in the loss.

York was led by Danielson’s 19 points, while Jeb Lucas was just as good, pouring in 14 points. Garrett Snodgrass scored nine points.

The Dukes will battle Aurora tonight for the B-6 Subdistrict Final at 5:30 p.m. from Aurora High School. The Huskies have handed York two of their three losses.
