Lincoln- It was a battle between Osceola-High Plains and Burwell to kickoff the 2019 football state championships and it was the Stormdogs taking down the Longhorns in dramatic fashion 40-34. Osceola-High Plains jumped out to a big lead in the first half off of four total touchdowns by Dylan Soule as the Stormdogs led 40-14.
In the second half though, the Longhorns were able to score 20 unanswered points to make things interesting. Things got really dicey for the Stormdogs as they had the ball with just under two minutes remaining in the game and Carter Boden threw an interception and Burwell possessed the ball on the Stormdog 30 yard line. But a clutch tackle and strip of the football at the 1:34 mark in the fourth, by Jarrett Parsons the Stormdogs recovered the fumble and iced the game
