(Audio) York Travels To Lexington, York Girls Win, Duke Boys Fall

York made the trip down I-80 to face the Lexington Minutemen and Minutemaids and it was a pair of contests split with the York Girls winning 69-34 and the Lexington Boys victorious 63-46.

In the girls’ game, it was all knotted up at 13-13 at the end of the first quarter, but York outscored Lexington 56-21 in the next three quarters to capture the victory. The key component in the victory for York was junior Maddie Portwine unofficially had 23 points to lead the Dukes.  Lexington falls to 0-5, York moves to 4-0.

In the boys’ game,  Lexington jumped out to lead and never looked back. The Minutemen were led by Nick Saiz and his 16 points, which catapulted him over 1,000 career points, as he came into the game with 992.  Jake Erwin had 15 points for the Dukes. Lexington is now 4-1 and York is 0-3.

Lexington’s teams will face Ralston on Tuesday, York battles Aurora next Friday.
