DAVENPORT- It was a split in Legion Baseball Friday night in Davenport, as Hebron took the Junior game 8-7, and BDS won the Senior matchup 12-2 in 5 innings. In the Junior clash, Hebron cruised to a 8-0 lead through 6 innings, with starting pitcher Logan Weidel holding BDS to just 2 first inning hits. But BDS rocked relief pitchers Buchanan Tietjen and Traven Virus for 7 runs in the bottom of the 7th, but Hebron held on for the 8-7 victory. Weidel was the star of the game for Hebron, allowing two hits and striking out eight. He also had two singles and a home run at the plate.
The Senior game was all BDS. After spotting Hebron with a single tally in the top of the first, the power display ignited. Isaac Meyer gave BDS all the runs they would need, with a three-run homer in the bottom half of the inning. The fireworks continued in the second, as Dalton Kleinschmidt blasted a two-run shot, and three batters later Hunter Healey took one downtown with two men aboard. BDS added three more runs in the third, and went on to a 12-2 run-rule shortened victory. Healey was the player of the game for BDS. In addition to his three-run homer, he singled twice, and picked up the win on the mound, allowing Hebron just two hits.
