BDS Girls Dominate, SRC Boys Take Down Eagles

It was all BDS in girls high school basketball action Friday night in Davenport, as the Eagles took the bite out of the Shelby-Rising City Huskies with a dominating 52-18 win. After a 45-44 upset loss to Shelby-Rising City in the Crossroads Conference Tournament on January 27, BDS made sure history wouldnt repeat itself, as they quickly jumped out to a 14-4 first quarter advantage, then put the game away early, extending their lead to 31-6 at the half. The Lady Eagles added 21 second-half points, holding SRC to just 12, as they cruised to the home victory. BDS is now 14-4 on the season, while Shelby-Rising City fell to 9-13.
In boys action, Shelby-Rising City broke open a tight game in the second half, and grounded the Eagles 55-44. It was close early, as the Huskies held an 8-7 lead after one quarter. Both teams scored 14 points in the second, as SRC held on to a 22-21 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, the Huskies slowly added to their lead, going up 34-29, and a 21 point final period assured them the road win. The Huskies (15-4) were led by senior Jett Pinneos 18 points, while junior Colin Wingard added 15. BDS (11-8) was paced by senior Nolan Weber with 17 points.
