It was all BDS in girls high school basketball action Friday night in Davenport, as the Eagles took the bite out of the Shelby-Rising City Huskies with a dominating 52-18 win. After a 45-44 upset loss to Shelby-Rising City in the Crossroads Conference Tournament on January 27, BDS made sure history wouldn’t repeat itself, as they quickly jumped out to a 14-4 first quarter advantage, then put the game away early, extending their lead to 31-6 at the half. The Lady Eagles added 21 second-half points, holding SRC to just 12, as they cruised to the home victory. BDS is now 14-4 on the season, while Shelby-Rising City fell to 9-13.
In boys action, Shelby-Rising City broke open a tight game in the second half, and grounded the Eagles 55-44. It was close early, as the Huskies held an 8-7 lead after one quarter. Both teams scored 14 points in the second, as SRC held on to a 22-21 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, the Huskies slowly added to their lead, going up 34-29, and a 21 point final period assured them the road win. The Huskies (15-4) were led by senior Jett Pinneo’s 18 points, while junior Colin Wingard added 15. BDS (11-8) was paced by senior Nolan Weber with 17 points.
