Centennial Falls in Postseason Softball Play

FAIRBURY- The Centennial high school softball team saw their season come to an end Thursday in an elimination game during the C-3 District play-offs in Fairbury.

After breezing through round one beating Aquinas Catholic 14-2, the Lady Broncos ran into a tough foe in host team Fairbury losing game two 8-2. That lose moved them into the loser bracket and a match up with Wilbur-Claytonia.

It was a do-or-die game for both teams. After leading the game 4-0 the Wolverines took the lead on a three-run home run in the top of the 7th inning to lead 5-4.

Centennial battled back in the bottom of the inning and won the game 6-5 in walk-off fashion on a Hunter Hartshorn two-run homer. The Lady Broncos survived to play another day.

Thursday they faced Malcolm on a wet, windy, cold day. The Clippers came our fired up and scored 11 runs on 13 hits.

Centennial bats were ice cold only scraping together one hit, but they did manage to score three runs.

Malcolm won the game 11-3 in five innings due to the run rule.
