Crete Advances To Championship Game In Three Overtime Thriller Against Northwest

LINCOLN- It was a rematch of last years Class B State Championship game in Fridays semifinals between #1 seeded Crete and #4 seeded Northwest and it was another thriller. This time Crete was the victory 48-47 in three overtimes. Jumping to the fourth quarter, Crete led 40-32 entering the final stanza. A basket right away from Morgan Maly pushed the lead to 10, but from there on out, Crete struggled on offense. Northwest then caught fire scoring 10 unanswered points, tieing things up and force overtime with the score reading 42-42. 

In the first overtime, no points were scored. The second overtime was a clone of the first overtime period. In the third overtime, Crete had some clutch free throws from senior Jayda Weyand to seal the victory and help outscore Northwest 6-5 in that period. Crete was led by Maly and her 22 points. Northwest, was paced by Whitney Brown as she scored 19 points. The Vikings end the season at 22-6. 

Crete will take on  #2 seed Beatrice Saturday at 1:00 P.M. from Pinnacle Bank Arena. The game can be heard on 104.9 Max Country with pregame at 12:50 P.M.
