Expedition League title comes down to tonight

The 2019 Expedition League season will come down to the final day after the Western Nebraska Pioneers and Badlands Big Sticks split the first two games of the best-of-three championship series.

The road team has won the first two games.

On Friday the Pioneers won in Dickinson by the final of 9-1 behind a 13 hit attack at the plate.

The top five in the order; Zach Peterson, Jacen Roberson, Cole Gambill, Will Olson, and Colin Ludwig combined to go 11-22 with all six of the teams RBI’s. Ludwig had four hits and Gambill hit his 8th homer of the season.

Andrei Stoyanow was great on the mound, tossing 8 innings while giving up just one run and notching 9 strikeouts.

Then last night back at Oregon Trail Park Stadium the Big Sticks jumped out to the early lead and never trailed in a 7-2 win.

Badlands scored three times in the first inning and then one in the second. They’d carry that 4-0 lead all the way to the eighth inning when the Pioneers finally got on the board on Will Olson’s 9th home run of the year.

Three more runs for the Big Sticks in the ninth inning sealed the deal as they forced the winner take all game three today.

Tonight’s game will start at 4:35 and KNEB will have coverage with Adam King on KNEB AM 960, 100.3 FM, and starting at 4:15.
