GACC Opens State Softball Tournament as #2 Seed

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic softball team earned its ninth consecutive trip to the state tournament by winning the C-5 District tournament in Pierce last weekend.

The Bluejays were the top seed in the district, and had a first round bye. In the second round, GACC knocked off O’Neill 11-0. The Bluejays met Boone Central/Newman Grover in the winner’s bracket semifinals, winning 19-9. The Bluejays and Cardinals met again in the finals, with GACC winning again, 11-5

At 26-3 overall, GACC is the #2 seed heading into the Class C state softball tournament in Hastings this week. The Bluejays will play #7 and 21-6 Auburn.

Game times for Wednesday’s tournament-opening action were pushed back an hour due to anticipated frost and wet field conditions.

GACC and Auburn will meet at 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.

107.9 The Bull will follow GACC for the entirety of their run at the state tournament.
