GILTNER- The game kicked off early, and was over in a hurry, as the Heartland Huskies demolished the Giltner Hornets 62-8, in high school football action Friday night in Giltner.  After forcing the Hornets to punt on the first possession of the game, the Huskies scored on their first six possessions and were never challenged in the contest. Heartland opened up a 26-0 lead just 7 and 1/2 minutes into the contest and led 56-0 at halftime.
With the running clock in effect in the second half, each team scored just one TD after intermission. Heartland was paced by junior running back Nolan Boehr, who scored touchdowns on runs of 31, 46, 7, and 5 yards. Kale Wetjen added TD runs of 39 and 9 yards; Jackson Stebbing had a 14-yard scoring jaunt and also hit Josh Quiring with a 36 yard TD on the Huskies only pass attempt of the game.
Giltner finally got on the scoreboard with 10:34 to go in the game, on a Dakon Wilson 8 yard touchdown pass to Kyle Frederick. Unofficially, Heartland racked up 429 yards in total offense, while holding Giltner to 179 yards of offense.
Next Friday, September 6, Heartland (1-0) hosts Weeping Water, while Giltner (0-1) plays at Central Valley.
