Holthaus Named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

AMES, Iowa – For her outstanding performance in Iowa State’s win over Oklahoma last Friday, Eleanor Holthaus has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The award is the Richmond, Minnesota native’s first weekly award from the Big 12 of her career.

In the Cyclones’ 3-1 win over Oklahoma, Holthaus was the go-to force for the Cyclone attack, as she notched 19 kills against the Sooners. It was the most kills she has had against a Big 12 opponent in her career. She also recorded her fourth double-double of the season, posting 14 assists, while also contributing five blocks. Her defensive efforts helped ISU hold the visitors to .059 hitting on the night.

For the season, Holthaus leads Iowa State with 3.24 kills per set, which she gets at .262 hitting. She is third on the Cyclones in blocking with 0.86 blocks per set and fourth on the squad in digs at 2.32 per frame.

Holthaus and the Cyclones are back in action on Wednesday night at Texas Tech. First serve between the Cyclones and Red Raiders will be at 6 p.m.
