Sixteen high school volleyball teams descend on Scottsbluff tonight for the big preseason Jamboree.
The matches will be held at both gyms at the high school along with Bluffs Middle School, and WNCC’s Cougar Palace.
Scottsbluff first year head coach, Leslie Foral, talked about the set up for tonight’s event.
So you’ll have four teams per site and each team will get to play two sets to 25 points tonight. Matches start at 6 pm and they’ll have the Class B teams; Scottsbluff, Gering, Alliance, and Sidney all in separate locations.
You can see the schedule for tonight below.
Foral, a Chadron native, was the freshman coach a season ago for Scottsbluff and now she takes over the varsity program that’s won a total of just ten matches the last two seasons.
For a team that’s struggled to get in the win column the last couple of seasons it’s important for Foral to identify where the leadership will come from. Fortunately that doesn’t sound like it’s been too difficult.
A night like tonight where Scottsbluff can get out and compete against other schools is huge for Foral. They don’t open their season for a couple of more weeks and Foral knows they still have plenty of things to iron out.
Foral and the Lady Bearcats will open up their season on Tuesday, September 3rd, with a road match at Chadron before their home opener two days later against Alliance.
