Meyer Shines as Superior Takes Down Sutton

SUTTON – Junior hitter Shayla Meyer got a game-high 16 kills in Superiors 3-1 win over the Sutton Fillies Tuesday night.

Both teams went back-and-forth in the first set. Sutton controlled a lead late in the set 19-16, but the Wildcats charged by going on a run that eventually led them to taking the first set 25-22.

Sutton squeezed by in set two with a 25-23 win, but that was the last set they would take in the match, as Superior finished it off with a 25-16 and 25-21 win in the third and fourth sets.

For the Fillies, senior hitter Kylie Baumert added 9 kill

For Superior, along with Meyer, they were led by Emma Henderson who added 5 kills and Meyer also contributed with four aces in the contest.

Next for Superior will be a matchup at home with Alma this Saturday. Sutton goes to the Centennial Triangular this Thursday against Centennial and Shelby-Rising City.
