YORK – The Panthers made the most of their home debut bringing an 8-2 win in exciting fashion. The home crowd was provided great baseball as they caught a glimpse of great pitching, home runs, a nail biter, and a lot of runs.
York’s Lawyer Braun (SR/Federal Way, Wash.) picked up the first hit of the ball game in the second inning as he launched a 1-2 pitch over the left field fence to give York the lead.
The visiting Friends Falcons answered back in the top of the third as they scored two runs on two hits to take the 2-1 lead. The Falcons picked up another hit in the fifth inning, and that was all they would get the rest of the way.
Jake Sola (JR/Lincoln, Calif.) tied things up as he picked up the second hit for the Panthers crushing a home run to deep left-center field.
With the game tied 2-2 and only five hits allowed through seven and a half innings of play, the Panthers’ offense got to work in the eighth. Luke Jackson (SR/Escondido, Calif.) started things off with a single. Ethan Lanz (SO/Littleton, Colo.) then singled to put runners on first and second with no outs. Another single, this time by Tre’ Bradley (JR/Lewistown, Mont.), loaded the bases. DB Vidal (SR/Livermore, Calif.) got the go-ahead RBI as he scored Josh Bertey (SR/Bakersfield, Calif.) from third. With a 3-2 lead the Panthers poured in five more runs thanks to a walk, an error, and a sacrifice fly.
Spencer Jones (SR/Three Rivers, Calif.) closed out the ninth for the Panthers and pushed the KCAC win streak to 10 games. York improves to 13-10 on the season and 11-4 in KCAC play.
The Panthers will travel to Bartlesville, Oklahoma for a three-game series against 13th ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan.
