For the third time this season a Briar Cliff football player as been named GPAC Defensive Player of the Week as Robert Robinson got the nod for the second time.
Robinson was a dominating force on the line for the Chargers as they earned a shutout for the second time this season. The Cliff defeated Hastings 32-0 on Saturday, marking the first time in program history that the defense pitched multiple shutouts in a single year.
The junior from Los Angeles led all players with 14 tackles in the game including 2.0 sacks. Robinson leads the GPAC in sacks (9.0) and tackles for loss (18.0) this season. The nine sacks is also a program best in a single season, with three games left on the docket.
Briar Cliff has one game left at Memorial Field this year as the Chargers host #5 Northwestern at 1 p.m. Saturday for the team’s Senior Day
