Seward falls to Bennington in the NSAA playoffs

BENNINGTON – The Seward Bluejays found itself as the 16-seed traveling to play the one-seed Bennington Badgers on Friday night. Seward scored the games first touchdown – a four-yard run by junior quarterback Gavin Sukup. However, the Badgers racked off 35 first half points en route to winning the game 52-26.

Bennington was able to score twice on pick-sixes in the first half, crushing Sewards momentum on offense. Overall, Sukup finished as the teams leading rusher with 54 yards. Fullback Trevor Ruth had 44 yards.

Badgers quarterback Kale Bird went 17-19 for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Trevor Mostek led the team in rushing with 80 yards.

Seward ends the season with a 3-7 record. Bennington moves on to the second round of the NSAA Class B playoffs, and will host Plattsmouth.
