Seward takes down Lakeview on the Diamond

SEWARD-In Class B softball action Monday evening in Seward, the Bluejays dominated from the get-go, and demolished Columbus Lakeview 12-0, in a run-rule shortened three-inning game. Seward jumped out to a 6-0 lead, sending 11 hitters to the plate in the first inning. The big blow in the frame was a three-run home run off the bat of junior left fielder Hannah Benedict. The onslaught continued in the second inning, when Seward batters stroked three doubles and plated 4 more runs. Senior shortstop Grace Hamling sent the first Hanna Allen pitch of the third inning over the fence, and, following a Benedict single, junior right fielder Claire Geidel ended the game with an RBI double.

Senior pitcher  Sydney Parra picked up her 13th win in the circle, holding the Vikings to just one hit, and striking out 4 in three innings of work.
Seward is now 13-5, while Lakeview falls to 6-7.
