Wayne State College senior middle hitter Tarrin Beller was named the Northern Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota following her play in Wildcat road wins over the weekend at #19 Winona State and #18 Upper Iowa. It’s the second time this season Beller has earned NSIC Player of the Week honors after being named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week September 16th.
A 6-0 senior middle hitter from Humphrey (Humphrey HS), Beller averaged 3.33 kills and 1.00 blocks per set while posting a .394 hitting percentage in two Wildcat road victories. She accounted for 15 kills with just one error to go with six blocks in Friday’s 3-1 win at #19 Winona State and followed that with another 15 kills and three service aces in a come-from-behind 3-2 win at #18 Upper Iowa Saturday.
For the weekend, Beller had 30 kills with just four errors and a .394 hitting percentage while recording nine blocks and four service aces in the two road wins.
This season, Beller currently averages 2.78 kills and 1.26 blocks per set, ranking second in the NSIC in blocks per set and fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.384.).
Wayne State, 15-2 overall and 6-2 in the NSIC, moved up four spots to 11th in the latest AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, and will host three Top 15 teams this week at Rice Auditorium. The Wildcats entertain #12 Southwest Minnesota State (11-5) Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. followed by weekend home matches vs. #7 Minnesota Duluth (14-2) Friday night at 6 p.m. and #8 St. Cloud State (14-2) Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
