UNO Volleyball sweeps Oral Roberts in regular season finale

OMAHA, Neb. – Senior Anna Blaschko became the 21st Maverick in program history to reach 1,000 career kills in a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-22, 25-11) over Oral Roberts on Saturday night at Baxter Arena.

Omaha concludes the regular season with a 13-5 (12-4 Summit League) record while Oral Roberts ends its season 3-15 (3-13).

Leaders for Omaha
Sadie Limback had a match-high 13 kills and hit .444, followed by 11 kills and .524 hitting by Blaschko. Sami Clarkson tallied a double-double with 30 assists and 12 digs and Claire Mountjoy led four Mavericks in double-figure totals in digs with 16. Rachel Fairbanks and Jordan Stalpes had 13 digs each.

Leaders for Oral Roberts
Aixa Vigil led the ORU attack with 10 kills, followed by Kaia Dunford with seven kills. Bryanne Soares tallied 15 assists, followed by Sylvia Lawson with 12 assists. Sarah Thiessen collected a match-high 22 digs.

Team Stats
Omaha hit .220 to Oral Roberts’ .044. The Mavericks collected 42 kills, 68 digs and five service aces in the three-set win. The Golden Eagles had 30 kills, 60 digs and on service ace. Omaha posted a 6-4 edge in blocks over the Golden Eagles.

Inside the First Set
The two teams traded 9-3 runs with Omaha out front early until Oral Roberts climbed back to tie it at 12. The Mavericks stretched the lead to 23-19 before an ace by Clarkson and an ORU attack error gave Omaha a 25-20 victory in set one.

Inside the Second Set
The Mavericks jumped out front 10-6 before the Golden Eagles battled back to snag a 13-12 lead. ORU later led 18-17 until back-to-back kills by Claire Leonard and Blaschko and an ORU error gave the lead back to Omaha at 20-18. Alexa Blase’s kill created set point and her ace clinched the 25-22 win in the second set.

Inside the Third Set
Omaha rattled off eight straight points to take a 12-2 lead before stretching the advantage to 17-3 after kills by Blaschko and Leonard. Leading 23-11, Blase’s seventh kill of the night set up match point before an attack error by the Golden Eagles made it 25-11.
