UNO’s Krumwiede and Koelewyn sweep Summit League Weekly Awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League office announced today that the duo of Keil Krumwiede and Spencer Koelewyn swept the weekly baseball awards.

Krumwiede garners his first Summit League Player of the Week honor, while Koelewyn notched his second-career Pitcher of the Week award.

Last weekend, the Mavericks went 3-1 as Krumwiede batted .455 with five hits, seven RBI, two doubles and two home runs. The senior shortstop also had a 1.182 slugging percentage and a .611 on base percentage. He was also credited with a relief appearance on the mound (0.2 IP) in Omaha’s 9-5 win over Northern Illinois.

In that same game, Koelewyn pitched 6.0 scoreless innings with just two hits and four walks allowed. The junior also fanned a career-high 10 batters in the game and improved to a perfect 2-0 on the bump this season. He also held opponents to just a .105 batting average.

Omaha opens its home campaign this Friday, March 6, at Noon against Portland for a doubleheader at Seymour Smith Park. Omaha then takes on Creighton the following day, March 7, at 4:30 pm. in TD Ameritrade Park.
