YORK – Nakia Hackel (SR/Arlington, Texas) scored a team-high 15 points as the Panthers tried to pull off a big upset against Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday night. A visiting team that had quite the resume didn’t scare the Panthers as they pulled within three points in the final minutes before falling 71-66.

TaShay Jackson (SR/New Rochelle, N.Y.) led the starters with 14 points and five rebounds. Julia Trujillo (JR/Denver, CO) added 12 points and six rebounds.

York was outrebounded by 12 but was able to stay in the game due to their defense forcing 22 Coyote turnovers. The Panthers converted those into 26 points. The Panthers bench also outscored the Yotes 35-9, thanks in large part to Hackel and Trujillo.

The Panthers travel to Southwestern on Wednesday night and finish our KCAC action for the semester on Saturday as they host Ottawa University.
