Coming off a Class B State Title game appearance a year ago the Scottsbluff Bearcats football team is under new leadership. What stays the same? Expectations.
The change comes at the top as Jud Hall moves from Offensive Coordinator to Head Coach, replacing Joe Benson.
Here’s a segment from today’s KNEB.tv Sportscast featuring day one of fall camp for the Bearcats.
The expectations remain high for the Bearcats this season despite losing the likes of Garrett Nelson, Keegan Reifschneider, and Chris Busby, among others.
Some of the key returners this year include senior quarterback/linebacker, Sabastian Harsh, who enters the season as one of the top players in the state.
Scottsbluff will benefit from the return off injury of senior lineman Sam Clarkson. In the backfield look for Jacob Krul to assume the bulk of the ball carrying duties in place of Busby.
Coach Hall also says this could be some of the best line play they’ve had in quite some time.
Of course the big bruiser, Harsh, will see plenty of carries from the quarterback spot and now with Busby gone the heavy workload will fall on the shoulders of Krul, who is a big play waiting to happen.
On the defensive side of the football plenty of those same names that graduated were big time stoppers for Defensive Coordinator, Jake McLain, so he’ll be tasked with finding the right mix to keep the Bearcats among the eite defenses in Class B.
Scottsbluff will open the season on Friday, August 30th, at home against Class A, North Platte, before back to back road games at Hastings and Northwest.
