WSC Volleyball sweeps Minot State

Tarrin Beller and Kelsie Cada each produced 12 kills to power #13 Wayne State College in a 25-16, 25-12, 25-14 victory over Minot State in a Northern Sun Conference volleyball match played Friday evening at the Minot Dome in Minot, North Dakota. WSC is now 21-5 on the season and 12-5 in the NSIC while Minot State drops to 3-23 and 2-15 in league play.

WSC never trailed in the opening set, taking an early 11-4 advantage, before finishing the opening set with a 25-16 win. Beller had four kills to pace WSC in the opening set.

The second set saw the Wildcats continue their strong play with a 25-12 set win, forcing seven Beaver attack errors in the set. Cada had the hot hand for Wayne State in the second set with seven kills on 13 attempts along with two service aces.

Beller was the go-to player for the Wildcats in the third set, producing seven kills on just 11 attacks, while WSC connected on 16 kills to complete the sweep with a 25-14 set win.

Wayne State finished the match with a .260 attack percentage on 44 kills, 11 errors and 127 attacks while Minot State hit .106 on 27 kills and 13 errors with 132 attacks.

The Wildcats held a 58-47 edge in digs and had five service aces with no service errors. Minot State had one more block than WSC 5-4.

Beller and Cada each had 12 kills to lead Wayne State. Beller hit .500 in the match with no attack errors. Jaci Brahmer and Rachel Walker each had four blocks for the ‘Cats while Hope Carter accounted for 15 digs with Haley Kauth adding 10. Walker also had 31 set assists for the ‘Cats.

The Wildcats will play again Saturday at the University of Mary in an 11 a.m. contest.
