York falls in first round of state

LINCOLN – The York Dukes cap their 2020 season at the state tournament in Lincoln. The Dukes entered as the 6-seed and took on the 2-seed Elkhorn Antlers.
York took Elkhorn deep into the first set. It was 26-25 Dukes with match point, but the Antlers scored three-straight points to win 28-26.
Elkhorn won sets two and three convincingly 25-18 and 25-17 to sweep the match.
Masa Scheierman finished with 13 kills in the match. Senior Addison Legg had 4 kills. For Elkhorn, Abby Wolfe and Addison Thomas had 11 and 10 kills respectively.
The Dukes, making the tournament for the first time since 2012, finishing with a 29-7 record.
