YORK- No. 5 Elkhorn scored six runs with one out in the top of the first and never looked back en route to a 12-0, three-inning win over York Thursday night at the York Ballpark Complex.

Lauryn Haggadone struck out the first batter she faced. But then Ari Crafton singled to left and Nyleigh Carbaugh and Camryn Cramer drew back-to-back walks ahead of Jaycee Schutte, who lined a two-run single to left. Megan Garcia followed with a single to right, scoring Cramer. After a walk to Paige Roessner, a wild pitch scored Garcia while Mack Madrigal drove in Roessner with a single to center, pushing the lead to 6-0 in the first. The Antlers added five more runs in the second, highlighted by a two-run double to center by Mack Madrigal, and a third inning solo home run by Megan Garcia in the third gave Elkhorn (3-3) the needed 12-run lead to end the game after three innings.

In addition to her hitting (two-for-three, home run, three RBI), Garcia made sure the Antlers’ offense held up, allowing just five hits in three innings with four strikeouts. With the bases loaded and two out in the third, Garcia struck out Maddie Pohl to end the game.

The Dukes are next in action Saturday in the York Quad Tournament, taking on DC West/Concordia, Ralston and Hastings St. Cecilia.
