York Falls to McCook on Homecoming

September 11th, 2020 | Amanda Mendoza

YORK- It was a rock fight between the #8 York Dukes and the #9 McCook Bison, and for York, homecoming didnt go their way as they fell 10-7. The Bison scored on their first drive with a one-yard touchdown run from Alec Langen and they led 7-0. The score remained that way until the third quarter when Luke Maris hit a 30-yard field goal making it 10-0. In the fourth quarter, York started a drive with 10:08 remaining in the game, on their own two-yard line. The Dukes were able to score on that drive as Jake Erwin threw a 46-yard pass to Wyatt Collingham to make the score 10-7.

Later in the fourth quarter, York had possession with 2:07 remaining. The Dukes drove the field and with 10 seconds remaining Erwin tried to toss a pass to Chase Collingham, but the Bison intercepted it to seal the victory.

McCook is now 1-1 and will take on Seward next week. York falls to 2-1 and will go to Ralston next week. The Ameritas Finacial player of the game was Jake Erwin with (unofficially) 172 yards passing and a touchdown
